Google AdSense To Retire Link Ads

Google AdSense To Retire Link Ads: With the feedback, Google has gotten from publishers and advertisers, Google Adsense is to retire link Ads. As per Google, this is in order to modernise their available ad formats.

Google says they will work to develop new Ad formats that will help publishers and advertisers even more.

It is true that many publishers have always preferred the link ad units for it could easily persuade someone to click on them. But the truth is from our experience, link ads generate a lesser revenue share even from the large numbers of impressions and clicks as compared to other ad formats.

And alos, the majority of invalid clicks are mos likely from the link ad units.

So, removing or retiring the link ad format could probably be one to the steps Google is taking to fight invalid clicks.

When will this change start?

We know you are asking yourself when this change will start. Based on the information we received from Google Adsense, the Google Adsense link ads is to retire the 10th of the month of March come the next year 2021.

And once this is implemented,

You will no longer be able to create link ad units.
Your link ad units will be renamed with [previously link ad unit] added to the end of the ad unit name. This will apply to both responsive and fixed-size link ad units.
Responsive link ads will begin to serve display ad units on your site(s).
Fixed-size link ads will stop serving on your site(s).We will collapse each ad unit where possible. In other cases we will show a blank ad.

Once the change implemented, again, your responsive link ads units will start showing display ads; And if you hard fixed link ad units, Google recommends you;
