Microsoft could buy TikTok for $30 billion

Based on some sources, Microsoft could buy TikTok for $30 billion. Microsoft has had It’s eyes on TikTok and the acquisition talks could finish within this week ahead of the September 15 deadline.

The two companies haven’t come to a clear cut price though, but according to David Faber  from CNBC, the price range is between $10 and $30 billion.

If things go as planned, Microsoft is to transfer all of TikTok’s code from China to the U.S. within a year. It will, therefore, go to say that Trump’s ban of TikTok wasn’t executed. But this is only if ByteDance does sell the widely-popular unit to an American company by September 15.

The U.S. Treasury is to get a cut of the acquisition said the President Donald Trump, but it’s unclear how that would work or if it’s even legal.

Following a conversation between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and President Donald J. Trump, Microsoft is prepared to continue discussions to explore a purchase of TikTok in the United States.

Furthermore, Microsoft will move quickly to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, in a matter of weeks, and in any event completing these discussions no later than September 15, 2020. During this process, Microsoft looks forward to continuing dialogue with the United States Government, including with the President.
