But keeping the future aspects apart and taking a look at the present, something new is happening! WhatsApp now has a new feature — Group calls. Reason for the WhatsApp group video & voice calls

This new initiative should help families and friends who are away from each other come together and communicate in a live video or voice call. Very important, especially during this period of the Coronavirus pandemic where everyone is indoors.

One could confirm the veracity of this information from a blog post on the WhatsApp official website and also on a tweet from WhatsApp.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that many of us are isolated from friends and family. As a result, we see that people all over the world are turning to voice and video calling on WhatsApp more than ever before. Group calling has been particularly useful and our users have asked to connect with more people at once. Starting today, we’re doubling the number of participants you can have on a WhatsApp video or voice call from 4 to 8 people at a time.”
