Google Play Store to Introduce Quick Fix for App Crashes

App crashes are one of the most common bugs with Android applications. Although this issue has significantly reduced as newer Android versions have been released, it is still quite prominent.

You’re probably aware that the Google Play Store is an essential part of the Android ecosystem, and Google continuously enhances it with new features and security patches to optimize your phone’s performance. If you haven’t paid much attention to the app hub’s changelogs before, you might want to take a look at the one from November 2022.

In that particular update, the Google Play Store introduced a new prompt that prompts users to update apps that are frequently crashing on their device if an update is available. This prompt aims to address the crashes and improve your overall user experience by providing a smoother app performance.

After several months since the changelog first mentioned the new Google Play Store feature, the company has finally announced its imminent launch on the Android developer blog. With this feature, Google will take on the responsibility of quickly resolving issues with crashing and force-closing apps.

Google Play Store to Introduce Quick Fix for App Crashes

What’s particularly great about this new Google Play Store feature is that app developer won’t need to do much to ensure their apps can utilize it. Google’s systems will automatically enable the prompt on compatible apps. But what can users expect from this prompt? It will notify them that an update is available to address the crashes they may be experiencing with certain apps.

Furthermore, this feature will be accessible on both tablets and phones running Android 7.0 and higher. One of the advantages of this new prompt being generated by the Google Play Store is that it can appear on the device, even if the app it references keeps crashing while the message is displayed.

While Google has not yet provided a specific timeline for the rollout, we anticipate it will be available soon.
