Facebook, Inc, the company behind WhatsApp has been doing their all to give you a better experience and satisfaction using their App. WhatsApp has gone through a serious of upgrades and there is still more to come. But keeping the future aspects apart and taking a look at the present, something new is happening! WhatsApp now has a new feature — Group calls. WhatsApp group video & voice calls now available and supports up to 8 participants.
Reason for the WhatsApp group video & voice calls
This new initiative should help families and friends who are away from each other come together and communicate in a live video or voice call. Very important, especially during this period of the Coronavirus pandemic where everyone is indoors.
One could confirm the veracity of this information from a blog post on the WhatsApp official website and also on a tweet from WhatsApp.
WhatsApp group video & voice calls supported devices
WABetainfo spotted this new feature on the WhatsApp 2.20.141 web release. And although present on the latest web release for Android, the Google Play Store version doesn’t.
On the other hand, the App Store version of WhatsApp(2.20.50) for iOS users has this new feature already.
To be able to use this new group calls feature, all participants in a call need to update to the latest version of WhatsApp available on iPhone or Android.
