Privacy assurance:  Assuring users that their privacy is guaranteed when using proxy servers, WhatsApp said:

  • “Connecting via proxy maintains the high level of privacy and security provided by WhatsApp. Your messages will always be protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring they stay between you and the person you’re communicating with and aren’t visible to anyone in between, not a proxy, WhatsApp or Meta servers.
  • “Our wish for 2023 is that these internet shutdowns never happen. Disruptions, like those we have seen in Iran for months, deprive people of their human rights and prevent them from receiving urgent aid. However, in case these shutdowns continue, we hope this solution will help people wherever there is a need for secure and reliable communication.  ”
