Samsung Health Stack 1.0 revealed before the official release

Samsung Electronics introduced the Samsung Health Stack 1.0 at the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2023 conference and exhibition in Chicago. The Samsung Health Stack is an all-in-one open-source project developed by Samsung Research and Samsung Research America, which helps digital health researchers build apps, backend servers, and analysis tools for wearable devices based on the Android and Wear OS operating systems.

This project aims to simplify the process of acquiring digital health data and reduce the barriers between medical researchers and digital technology experts, promoting the development of digital health services and ultimately improving the quality of life for people worldwide.

The Samsung Health Stack has an App SDK, a web portal, and a backend system that makes system construction simpler for developers and enables them to focus on their research. With the Samsung Health Stack, researchers can easily collect wearable data and simplify the data collection process by entering only relevant information into the web portal. Applications developed with the App SDK can support frequent communication between researchers and participants, leading to better research outcomes.

Samsung Health Stack 1.0, which is scheduled for release in June, has improved research introduction, participant onboarding, wearable data collection, and basic survey functions, with enhanced security and stability for reliability in actual healthcare research. The new version offers an activity task feature that tracks clinical participants’ progress on specific research-related tasks and a survey feature that enables researchers to acquire data directly from participants with a dynamic survey function.

Visitors to Samsung’s booth at HIMSS 2023 can experience the Samsung Health Stack’s new features through a mobile app created using the App SDK, which integrates wearable devices and a web portal for conducting healthcare research and collecting data ( Startups such as SALTED  and All Round Doctors ). The Samsung Health Stack is an open-source project that is expected to be used in various fields in the future.
