In August, it’s customary for Samsung to unveil the latest iteration of its Galaxy Watch series during an Unpacked event. This year, the Galaxy Watch 6 series is anticipated to be introduced at the same time, and rumors and leaks about these upcoming smart wearables are picking up speed. A recent report has divulged the chipset specifications of the Galaxy Watch 6.
According to SamMobile ↗, an upgraded processor will power the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series, with the Exynos W980 chipset being the likely candidate. It’s anticipated that this new SoC will be more than 10% faster than the Exynos W920, which can be found on the Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 series. Notably, Samsung didn’t upgrade the processor in the Galaxy Watch 5 models.
Although Samsung has yet to announce the Exynos W980, it’s speculated that it may use the company’s 5nm process, which could lead to better battery life. Apart from this, the report doesn’t provide any additional information on the Galaxy Watch 6 series. However, past rumors suggest that the upcoming smart wearables will feature a larger and higher-resolution display with thinner bezels, as well as larger batteries. There’s also been speculation that Samsung may reintroduce the popular rotating bezel, but only for one model of the Galaxy Watch 6.
