WhatsApp released a beta version 2.23.10.8 and from tests and information spotted on Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature called Admin review that will allow users to report a message in groups. This new feature is available in beta for Android 2.23.10.8, and it will be rolling out to more users over time.

As per WabetaInfo ↗, if you want to report an inappropriate message, you can simply tap on it and select “Report”. The report will then be sent to the group admins, who can take action to either delete the message or warn the author. Additionally, all reported messages are accessible in a tab within the group’s information.
As depicted in this screenshot, a new option will soon be added to the group settings section. As it will be located within the group settings screen, only group admins will have the ability to activate this feature. Once enabled, group admins will be able to moderate their groups more effectively with the help of reports sent by other group members. Reported messages will be visible to group admins in a new section of the app, within group information.
We believe that the admin review feature will grant group members greater control over the content that is shared within the group. If a member encounters a message that they deem inappropriate or offensive, they can report it to the admin for review. This will enable admins to promptly delete the message for everyone, if necessary. This feature will empower group members and ensure that the group remains a safe space for all members.
The ability to report messages to group admins is currently in development and will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app. As always, we will share further details about this feature in another article.
