WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.12.0.74 brings a screen-sharing option for video calls
WhatsApp has released a new update for its beta testers on iOS, bringing the version up to 23.12.0.74. This update includes a new screen-sharing option for video calls. WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.12.0.74 is marked as a compatible update, but some users may be able to get the same feature after installing one of the previous updates of the app.
As this is still in the beta stage, it is not available to all users. If you don’t see the “Share Screen” option, it’s likely because you’re not in the beta program or because the feature hasn’t been rolled out to your region yet.
To use the screen-sharing feature, simply start a video call and tap on the “More” button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Then, select “Share Screen.” You can share your entire screen or just a specific app.
If the screen-sharing feature is activated on your WhatsApp account, you will notice a new icon located at the bottom of the screen during a video call. This option enables you to share the content of your screen with all participants in the call. When utilizing this feature, everything displayed on your screen, including notifications, will be recorded and shared remotely with the individuals currently connected to the video call. It is recommended to enable the “Do Not Disturb” mode or your preferred focus mode to prevent unexpected notifications.
Despite the continuous sharing of your screen content during the video call, you can terminate it at any time. Moreover, your screen’s content is only shared when you provide permission to do so. The capability to share screen content during a video call is currently accessible to certain beta testers who have installed the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. It will gradually become available to more users over the next few weeks.
