Microsoft acquires Clipchamp video creation and editing Suite

Microsoft acquires Clipchamp video creation and editing suite. This information was made public by Microsoft in one of their blog posts. And according to Microsoft, Clipchamp is a “natural fit” to extend its existing productivity experiences in Microsoft 365 for families, schools and businesses.

They didn’t mention the acquisition price for this web-based video editing and creation tool. But Clipchamp had raised over $15 million in funding, according to Crunchbase. This goes to say Microsoft got acquired Clipchamp for a sum greater than $15 Million.

Clipchamp is an in-browser video creation and editing experience founded in 2013 with a mission to empower anyone to tell stories worth sharing.

The Clipchamp team is dedicated to making a video app they would personally love and are proud to have the world use as well. Clipchamp’s technical approach is to combine the simplicity of a web app with the ability to process video using the full computing power of a PC with graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration, something that was formerly limited to traditional video applications.

The video presentations, promos or videos created with Microsoft and Clipchamp are destined for social media like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, etc.

“As a web application that uses the full power of your PC, Clipchamp is a natural fit for expanding cloud-based productivity experiences in Microsoft 365 for individuals, families, schools and businesses,”

Chris Pratley , Microsoft Office Cooperation Advisor.
